Before attempting to renew a license through the Compact, it is important that you read these details:

  1. You may not renew any licenses through the Compact that were not obtained through the Compact. If you are unsure how you obtained your medical license, please contact the state medical board that issued the license.
  2. You are responsible for knowing the renewal dates and fees for any licenses you wish to renew through the Compact.
  3. The physician holding the medical license must be the person answering questions on the renewal form, below, as they are attested to under penalty of perjury.  This applies to each state license being renewed.
  4. You DO NOT need to have an active Letter of Qualification to renew a license.

If you are able to confirm the three items above, you may renew a license(s) using the Compact.

Step 1. Provide basic contact information and submit payment. See form below.  You will be charged a $25.00 application fee per renewal in addition to the state's renewal fee.

Step 2. Each issuing state board will verify your information and determine if you are qualified for a renewal. You will receive an email of the results.

You can preview renewal documents here.

The IMLCC has prepared an educational video that walks through the renewal application.  It is recommended that you watch this video prior to starting your renewal application.

Military Discounts and Waivers

The IMLCC does not offer discounts or waivers of licensing fees for military personnel or their families.

Military discounts or waivers may be offered through the individual state medical boards, and if a compact member state grants a waiver, they will authorize the IMLCC to return the appropriate portion of the license or renewal fee paid.

If you have any questions regarding state discounts or waivers, please contact the individual medical boards directly.

ATTENTION NEVADA MD LICENSEES. PLEASE FOLLOW THIS RENEWAL PROCEDURE:
Nevada renewals will open on/after April 21, 2025
Step 1. Go to: https://medboard.nv.gov/ before submitting the renewal through the IMLCC website and click on “RENEW YOUR LICENSE.” This will take you to the Board’s licensee “Service Portal.”
Step 2. Login to the Service Portal using your email address on file with the Board and your
Service Portal password. If you have not used the Service Portal before, please click
“Activate now,” to receive a temporary password to activate your account.
Step 3. When you have completed your renewal application on the Board’s website, click the link at the end of the application to go to the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
(IMLC) website: https://imlcc.com/renew. Pay your renewal fees ($825.00) and complete the IMLCC application.
Your license renewal will not be complete until you have completed all three steps.
The renewal period will close on June 30th at 5pm pacific time.
Failure to renew by 5pm pacific time on June 30th will require you to reinstate your expired license through the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.

Mississippi license holders, there is a two-step process for renewing your license. First, you must submit a renewal with IMLC and pay the renewal fee. Then, you must log on to the Mississippi Licensure Gateway and submit a renewal for the Mississippi Board. The link to the Licensure Gateway may be found on the home page at www.msbml.ms.gov.  All Mississippi licenses will expire on June 30 if both steps are not completed prior to that date.

In order to renew an Ohio license issued via the Compact, licensees must complete a two-step renewal process. Upon submitting the renewal application via the IMLC’s website, you must await emailed renewal instructions sent by State Medical Board of Ohio staff. Once received, you will continue to Ohio’s eLicense Center (https://elicense.ohio.gov/OH_HomePage) to complete the renewal process.

Important for West Virginia D.O. License Holders:
Once you have completed your IMLCC renewal application, you will need to complete a renewal questionnaire on the Board's website at: www.wvbdosteo.org

The renewal questionnaire must be completed before the Board can approve your renewal application.

The IMLCC Renewal Questionnaire can be accessed by going to the D.O. Dashboard on the Board's website. Once in the dashboard there will be a renewal button next to your license expiration date.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. You may now begin the Compact licensure renewal process by clicking on the “Go to License Renewal” button below.
